Sports Development is about helping people to start in Sport, stay in Sport and succeed in Sport
Sports Development is ultimately about encouraging people from all backgrounds to start in sport, stay in sport and succeed in sport regardless of social class, ability, race, religion or gender. Although there is a general acknowledgement of the value of sport in society, governments will often have different policy objectives for supporting sport in their communities.
Sports Development as a field of study is relatively young, but would encompass all attributes pertaining to delivering sporting models that serve broader social or political aims. It is commonly accepted that when discussing Sports Development, one would generally refer to:
